UCONN-URI Navy STEM Program Awarded $3M Grant

NOVEMBER 01 2021 | The UConn-URI Navy STEM Program announced the program received funding of $3 million by the Department of Defense (DOD), under the National Defense Education Program (NDEP) in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). “This grant will empower us to continue our mission of creating a regional community of naval stakeholders from academia, industry, and federal and state agencies focused on STEM workforce development to support the regional and national Navy enterprise,” the program stated in a LinkedIn announcement.

The program will engage STEM talent K-12 through graduate school in innovative naval-focused activities and hands-on projects through participation from the regional Navy community to provide early and frequent interaction and, ultimately, retention of students from this community.
